gib needs to understand delayed bids

When I bid 2H, I deny a max with 4H (failure to make other bids)

When I later *compete* to 3H I cannot have a max with 4H.

Somewhere along the line, I'm not sure where, I believe we were told that GIB never considers the fact that his partner failed to Superaccept. Of course, your main point is correct that GIB doesn't understand the concept of competitive bids.
