My watched content side panel is not working very well - frequently there are updates to topics that I am watching which are not alerted in my side panel. Is there something I could do to make this work better, or is there just a software issue?

I don't use that feature, so I don't know anything about how it works. Can you give specific examples of when it wasn't working?

Isn't this a support request, not a suggestion?

It's probably in the wrong forum, yes. Theoretically, topics that I am "watching" pop up in the side bar to my right when a new post is made into that topic. In reality, mostly it does not do do more than sporadically for me.

Can you provide specifics, i.e. what were you watching, and when was something added that didn't show up?

ggwhiz posted a comment in a topic I am watching, how do you play this double, at 18:58 PST. I have not yet read that comment, but it has not shown up in the topics I am watching side-bar.

I am going to give it until at least 8, but then I'm going to read the comment.

I keep asking for specifics. Which topic?

"How do you play this double"

Sorry, I should have made it more obvious that was the topic in my prior post.

edit: Just to be clear, this is the topic in the Intermediate and Advanced discussion.

Sorry, my mistake for not realizing that was the topic name. But I did figure out you meant PDT when you wrote PST.

I'm watching a few topics and one forum to see what happens for me.

So far I haven't seen this problem. When I logged in this morning, all the watched threads that had been updated showed up in my Watched Threads list.

Since then, only one of them has been updated, but it shows up whenever I check.

Are you refreshing the page? I don't think the side panel updates itself dynamically.

When I login there is no update, even if the threads I watched are updated. This problem has gotten gradually worse over time, maybe I am watching so many threads that it has burdened the system.

After experimenting, it appears that I was right in that the problem had something to do with the fact that I was watching an absurdly large number of threads simultaneously. Now I actually have a software improvement proposal (related): A way to stop watching all of your content at the same time, or, alternatively, a screen that shows you everything you are watching. Even better, an option to stop watching any topic after a month has gone by without new posts.

You can see everything you're watching by going into My Settings -> Forums -> Managed Watched Topics.

It looks like Invision has made changes to this part of the forum in the next version -- watched topics are replaced with a "like" system. No idea if it addresses the limit you ran into.
