I am fairly new, and have trouble finding a partner for virtual clubs (ACBL). Am I wrong to refuse invitations from people whose tab reads $5BB? I prefer not to pay for my partner. But then I saw a tab marked $10BB and now I am concerned that only THAT price means I am paying for them. Have I been turning people down who were willing to play with me for nothing?

It costs $5 per person. If it says it will cost you $5 to invite them, that means they are willing to pay for themselves, and you are paying for yourself. If it says it will cost you $10, that means they want you to pay for both.

It looks to me as if OP had every right to be confused by this strange choice. Why not just add "+$5BB" to those who want to play for free?

So you click a button that says +$5 and it takes $10 out of your account? That seems the strange choice to me.. the current system seems clear, where if it says $x, it costs you $x.

I see what she means, it is confusing in this combination:

1. I click "I'm willing to pay for myself". My name is added to the partnership desk without an $5 next to my name
2. Everyone else in the list shows as $5

So now it looks like I'm paying for myself + $5

Only when we see a 10 BB$ we realize 5 BB$ is the indication of "my" cost to register with this partner.


Got it, we'll see how to improve or at least explain it better.
