I would not pre-empt here, but for a different reason - too much defence (or at least unexpected defence). When the opponents bid over, partner will misguess what to do - and even if it's -50 into +50, that's a problem.
I don't like 1♠ - like the other thread, partner will game force with hands that have no hope - but I'll do it, and apologize when we lose two trumps and two tricks in 4♠ (and hope that RKC stops me in a making 5 when partner has the even stronger hand). I also am concerned that my defence is poor - yes, the same defence I said was too much for a preempt - and I'll feel uncomfortable when partner doubles 3♥ or 4♥, but again, what if I pull a penalty double to a minus score?
But the big question - here and in the other thread - is "what does your partner expect from a pre-empt"? Not what I do, or David, or...
