Inconsiderate opponents preempt Movie at 11

1. What is your general plan to describe this hand, both at IMPS and MP, and at the various possible vulnerabilities ?
2. Suppose you open 1C and the bidding goes 1C - (1S) - pass - (3S) - ?, with 3S a mixed raise. Besides "annoying little spade preempt", what are your thoughts now, again both at IMPS and MP, and at the various possible vulnerabilities ?
Thank you for your time,
Michael

At imps, it is not so clear. The hand is very slammish but at the same time difficult to describe with a rebid. Most likely I'll have to invent a 2D reverse. This is not to me an easy decision. The question of vul is a good one - vul vs NV makes it uncomforatbly likely that we'll get interference, after which describing this hand will get even harder.
When the game gets iffy my rule is practicality - do what will be right most of the time, but not necessarily THIS time.
I think I'll open 2N at any form of scoring for 4 reasons: 1) It fairly well describes my hand 2) It is a practical solution 3) It makes it risky for opponents to enter the auction 4) It does not totally rule out slam.
Interested to see other ideas on this one. Well done.

Is opening 1♣ and rebidding 2NT understating the strength of this hand by much?
A club slam is quite a lively possibility and it is much harder to find if you open 2NT or 2♣ followed by 2NT. Whereas you will rarely miss out on a good game if partner passes your 2NT rebid.
I read the following recently in a very good bridge blog:
"The trick is to realize on a majority of deals you just need to bid what you have. Nothing fancy, just try to describe your hand as well as you can. It is only on a few select deals that you should be using your "expert" bidding."
It's very good advice.

Since I think a 2N OPENER might be an underbid, i obviously find 1C then 2N to be an underbid by about a queen or so lol. That is just too much for me.
BTW you can still find clubs if you open 2N and partner bids stayman then 4N or something like that. You can bid 6C

Just out of interest, what would you open if your ♣ and ♥ were interchanged?

Hey no fair, that's a ridiculously hard problem
The hand is not right for a strong 2 in hearts, so the options are 2C-2N, 2N, or 1H planning to rebid...uhh...3D(sick) I guess.
I would probably open 1H here as the hand is suit oriented, and now 4H is likely or at least could plausibly be our best game, as well as slam. If the suit is clubs it's highly unlikely to miss a club GAME because we opened 1C. To me that is the difference.
Anyways, as I mentioned in that post the MSC type hands certainly exist, the point is they come up with very low frequency at the table. If you get fancy when they do actually come up, that can be fine, even optimal. But on the other 99% of the hands...
There is no great bid with this hand, and its even worse if the clubs and hearts are reversed.

Luckily for me I never get hands like this. About 17 points is my maximum and about 7 is my average.

If playing a 20-21 2NT opening, I don't mind opening this hand 2NT. Otherwise I open 1C and rebid 2NT. I don't believe I will miss game very often.
I don't agree that this is "too good" for an opening 2NT. You need something useful from partner to make game, and concentrating his mind on the club suit won't hurt. Yes, opening 1C will miss game opposite xxxx xxx xxx Kxx (though it's still not cold) but opening 2C will get you too high if partner takes you seriously.
