I think the default is that in most situations (except over opener's rebid of 1nt), new suit by unpassed responder should be considered forcing naturalish. Would require fancy non-sayc, non beginner/int agreements with double and/or 2nt to cater to shapely hands that want to bid a non-forcing 3c.

what lengths could I expect in hearts and clubs respectively? 5-5? 5-4? could it be 4-5 4-6, bidding the major first ahead of a minor?

Responder has enough cards to bid at the 3 level, therefore there is no reason to suggest that he/she has suppressed a longer minor on the first round.

And what length in spades?

Responder should have spades, with spade shortage, he should make a reopening X.
Responder should also not be semibalanced with a spade stopper, he should bid NT.
Responder should also not be 5431 (diamond single) with a spade stopper, again he should bid NT.
I would also rule out 5521 (diamond doubleton / spade single), go with X, but this may
cause disagreement.

you will end up with 5+ hearts for sure, and shape 5521 (diamond single) or 64.
