In light of some of the recent suspensions handed down to cheating pairs, isn't it time for BBO to strip these pairs of their star?

Honestly I have never been sure exactly what a star denotes anyway.

I believe it denotes that they've represented their country and won in international competition...perhaps it would be more meaningful if the star was in a different colour, such as black..or red...

Actually that might be a useful tool to put on profiles, a system of symbols. If someone was found to be cheating to have a symbol attached to the profile.. or if someone consistently abandoned a tourney/team match if they weren't doing well...

I believe at one point stars indicated that BBO recommends watching you. There are specific requirements for getting a star, but BBO does not have to give you one if you meet those requirements (and can take it away). I learned this distinction a long time ago when I was stripped of my star at one point for bad behavior

I know the BBO-Names of two of the cheaters. One of them still has his star, and the other does not have a star anymore.

Now that's a way to deter potential future cheats! EBL/ACBL/WBF may hand out a 2-5 year ban, but BBF WILL STRIP YOU OF YOUR STAR FOR LIFE!!!
The easiest way to count losers is to line up the people who talk about loser count, and count them. -Kieran Dyke
