How do you launch the old windows client, rather than the new one?

The same way as any other Windows application. Either double-click on the icon on your desktop, select it from the Start menu, or add it to the taskbar and click on it there.

IIRC, "new" BBO members are barred from using the windows client.

True, but I checked and he's been a member since April 2012. The cutoff was October 2012.

We're not going to grandfather them just because they're grandfathers. :)

is there any way for qualifying members still to get hold of the client Barry, for example if their hard disks got corrupted? I ask because my main PC died a little while back and until I replace it I am not sure whether I still have the download or not.

The download was still available earlier this year. I know because I downloaded it. That was before the front page was rebuilt and the link disappeared. Even if you can't download it from BBO, I, or someone else, could send it to you.
