This hand is provided by a member of my bridge club.
Even though 4 is inappropriate,7 is also too wide of the mark.
7 says "5+,13+TPs",it only own 12hcp with 12TPs in fact,never 13+TPs.

my bidding shows I have under 18hcps, so our side has under 30hcps, it's an adventure for a 6s contract, let alone 7s.

Let us review, yet again, how GIB counts total points...

First, count high card points: A=4, K=3, Q=2, J=1
Then, count distribution points: Void=3, Singleton=2, Doubleton=1
Finally, add total points plus distribution points, and subtract one for every suit in which you have counted both high card points and distribution points. For example:
To count this hand: 4 for A + 2 for singleton - 1 for counting twice = 5

So, in OP's hand, North gets: 12 HCP + 2 for singleton - 1 for counting twice = 13 total points

But yes, 7 is absurd.

"18- HCP" means under 19hcps. Not that that makes any difference to the excruciatingly stupid 7S bid.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

single Ace= 5 ?

Max hardy had ever said that this is very very absurd to overestimate its value, and actually approximately equal to 3,I think you know its value in your heart.

Mr. Goren said it was worth 6, and I still believe him. But the bigger message is that since it seems unlikely that there will be a revamping of GIB's point counting routine anytime soon, players should know how that routine works.

I think the idea is that if you value x-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx as worth 2 total points in say a heart contract, for the spade ruffing value, it's not unreasonable to value A-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx as 5 total points, for the ace and the ruffing value combined. I don't have a problem with this. x-Axxx-xxxx-xxxx is 6.

Where I think GIB underevaluates is mainly when it possesses good 6 and 7 card suits where it should add a bit more for those rather than just counting 1 point for doubleton, 2 for singleton etc.

In GIBberish, "18- HCP" means "18 or fewer HCP" and "18+ HCP" means "18 or more HCP".
