Is North really worth a slam try?

Also, 7 of the 10 human Souths doubled 2. (Two passed and one bid 2NT.) How reasonable is that double? If it's reasonable, can we remove "2- H" from its description?

I don't know if I'd double, it's not totally clear whether it works out well on average. But regardless of whether the double is good or not, and whether one doubles with 4333 hands in general (I'm much more in favor of doubling at the 1 level with 3 cds in opp's suit, not too much wasted values), I think the 2- description should stay in, because that's approximately what everyone should be playing for on average initially. If we start defining the double a lot more loosely, it'll throw off all the other people's bidding accuracy when they have to simulate what to do. Until south shows big balanced hand (rebid 3nt) or some GOSH hand (good one suited hand, too strong to overcall), the 2- assumption should be left in.

Takeout double is a *suggestion* of 2- shape and 3+ support for all suits, it's not an ironclad guarantee. I don't think bid descriptions should encompass the entire range of possibilities, especially since GIB is often allowed to sim and be off by a card frequently. GIB is leaving in takeout doubles way too often as it is, increasing the average length in the trump suit probably makes it even worse at that.

X is ok. But i will pass 2s. If GIB has an invitational hand, he will bid 2nt-3c-3s=(invite).
