:P I didn't see the match, and I don't know their agreements. I would have liked to have bid 4♣, but I think I am too weak, and I don't want the auction to get out of hand. Still, given his subsequent bidding, partner must have some kind of monster hand, either ♠ and ♦ (most likely, imo.) or huge ♥ support and looking for slam opposite not very much. Either way, 4♠ seems right. Partner must be prepared for this, otherwise everyone wouldn't always be calling him Houdini. Why jec bid 4♥ is a mystery to me.

3♠ would have been a better idea in my opinion. We don't want to pass (x-p-3H-p-) 3S if partner rebids it. Wow, partner must have quite a bit. Too bad I can't bid spades at a low enough level now. I'm stuck.

3♠ looks much better, anyway, I have a big ace, partner has promised 11+ tricks, bid 5♠

I also think that 3S would have been much better than 3H. 4H looks right though, I don't think that you can bid 4S at that point.

Now I agree with 5S, you have an ace.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

looking at the hand seems to me the contract is totally hopeless, 5 diamonds, 4 hearts, 2 spades, can't make 12.

BTW it goes to show that playing with Sementa is much funnier than playing against the other JEC partners I had to play with wank.

At the time I thought the play was more interesting than it actually was.

Dummy was K94 AKJ74 AK963 -, and Han and I were 4126-2344. This was the ending after JEC had drawn two trumps, ruffed the diamonds good, and ruffed three clubs in dummy:

When he led dummy's diamond winner, Han just ruffed and cashed our club.

However, I thought Han had shown me an odd number of clubs, making South 3424. That would make the ending something like:

In which case JEC had played it rather well, but might now be about to go down by playing for me to be squeezed.
