They're red, you're white, partner deals and you hold:

T9
AKQJ
QT987xx
---

It's temas and the bidding starts:

1-Pa-?

Say you bid 1, your longer suit by three cards:

1-Pa-1-Pa
1-Pa

What now?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Now you game force, either using 4th suit forcing or XYZ, then rebid diamonds as cheaply as possible (if below 3N)...

1 followed by a GF bid (XYZ, 4th suit,...).

It goes on:

1-Pa-1-Pa
1-Pa-2-Pa
2-Pa-3-Pa
3-Pa-?

Partner wants to know whether we have a heart stopper. I think AKQJ just barely qualifies, so I will tell him the good news by bidding 3NT.

If you play rather weak openings and 1S shows 4S and 5+C, I strongly suggest 2NT. This hand is very likely a misfit hand and you should probably stay low.

Yeah partner is gonna be real happy when he goes down in 5 because we didn't have the 2 small clubs he thought we had.

In my experience what happens here is:

Responder thinks: We have a mis-fit so i had better put the breaks on by bidding 2N. Then partner will know to stay low.

What partner actually thinks: My distributional hand will play very nicely opposite a balanced 10-12 count. Since I cannot find out which cards he actually has, and many configurations give good play for game, I might as well blast 5C.
