Congratulations to the Bathurst Team.

Are the hand histories to these matches posted on BBO?

Thank you Justin, Fred and all the teams for a riveting and instructive spectacle :) :) :)
Based on Justin's BBF contributions, I predicted Bathurst would win.

Congratulations to the Bathurst Team for their well-deserved victory! Unfortunately (for us) my teammates and I did not play anywhere near as well as we are capable of in the Finals, but if we had to lose to someone I am very glad that Team Bathurst was that someone.

Special congratulations to Justin, not only because of his great contributions to BBO Forums, but also because the consensus among my teammates was that his level of play in the Finals was sensational.

I have no doubt that Team Bathurst will repesent the USA well in the Bermuda Bowl. I will certainly be cheering for them to go all the way!

Thanks Fred, I appreciate that. Was great to get to play against good friends in such an important match.

Ignore the silly message. Just click on the 2011 trials on the left hand side of the screen. New menu options open up, including RESULTS (which is what you will want) and bulletins, and other stuff. The presentation of the hands on that page is nice. There is even a PDF with the hands and makable contracts if you want, as well as vugraph play (no commentary on this page, however).

Can someone give us some background on Zagorin? I had never heard of the guy, but apparently he came up through the junior ranks with Bathurst, Wooldridge, etc..

Also, I've never heard of a sponsor being as young as 39. I think thats pretty cool, and very good for the game.

I recall seeing Zagorin's occupation noted somewhere as a "Grain Futures Trader" so I guess there is some coin in that profession if you know what you doing. Similar to Diamond, it seems he had reasonable success as a junior before concentrating on career for a period. I don't want to open up a big sponsorship debate, but I think it's really cool to have well-heeled former juniors who are extremely competent in their own right forming dream-teams with their mates.
Disclaimer: The above post may be a half-baked sarcastic rant intended to stimulate discussion and it does not necessarily coincide with my own views on this topic.

Congratulations to Bathurst, I still remember watching you play in that "Pop Singer" team match on BBO.

And if your team needs a slogan:

"It is pitch dark. You have just been eaten by a Grue."

Congrats to all the forum members who played in the Team Trials.

Great Vugraph.

For me the biggest surprise is how much the players talk, ask questions, make comments, etc.

There's lots more that often doesn't get into the Vugraph transcripts. When I operate VG, I try to get the important or funny table talk into the record, but not most of the trivialities.

Many of these guys have been playing with and against each other for years. Even though it's a serious competition, the social aspect is not lost to them. And some of them are real jokers; kibbitz Ron Smith if you can.

Yeah, whether or not there is a lot of talking depends a lot on which people are playing. Some people are needlers, some are jokers, some depend on who they are playing against etc. Questions are much more common behind screens since you don't have to worry about giving stuff away or helping the opps by your questions.

Many people are definitely not the stone faced, serious, quiet, concentrated types that you think of when you think about bridge.

And +1 to most of the funniest comments unfortunately would not be BBO appropriate, lol.
