1NT-(2)-3, 1NT = 13-15, 3 = s GF
3NT-4, 4 nat slam try
4NT-5, 4NT to play
??

at this point I wished I had bid 4 instead of 4NT, but it was too late, what is 5 now?, would you raise?.

If she won't let me play in 3 or 4NT, I won't let her play in 5C. Bid 6.

Why didn't I show my cue after 4? I've already shown values (otherwise bid 4 instead of 3NT), partner will be able to make a good decision. I hope we're playing 1430 :)

This is an automatic 6 call! I mean you are playing MPs and 3NT is taking a bunch of tricks so you have to bid slam to compensate. [/sardonicism]

I remember one of my partners once told me "Never play 5m at MPs, if you are going to play 5m, bid one more."

... So he opened 1m, I bid 2m, he splintered, I rebid 4m and he bid 5. I had some random unbalanced 11 or something, so I bid one more.
... Two hands later LHO opened 1, he bid 2, RHO bid 4, passed back to my partner who bid 5. I had a balanced six count, so I bid one more.
I was like 9 at the time, and after that I asked him if he would like to rethink his statement :)

Anyway, we have a total balanced minimum, with some wasted spade values. I don't think slam will be good, but in this case there isn't many bad things that can happen to 3N. Therefore I think we're forced into bidding 6.

Who said this is matchpoints?

Even if it was matchpoints, that would be a dreadful reason for bidding on. Partner also knows it's not matchpoints, he knows much more about my hand than I do about his, and he chose to play in 5 rather than 4NT.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Would not have expected less on the auction. 4C/3NT is defined in the OP as a slam try, and 5C/4N doesn't change that ---merely shows the 7th club.

Fair enough. But I'll pass.
