I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

I don't want to lead from this hand, and I don't like my heart spots - 2 always for me.

In my world:
1) They are red, we are not
2) Partner does not have 4 spades.
---with four spades and GF strength she would bid 2S, not double ---and would have
longer diamonds.
---with four spades and less than GF, she would have responded 1S.
3) I guess I could not double on the last round because of the "support dbl" hamstring.
4) 2S removal of the double now would not show my 18 HCP, and suggest AJXX JXX QX AQxx.
5) I got lucky pard kept the auction alive, and can collect at least 500 at favorable.
6) The Diamond Queen is a reasonable opening lead.

Please read the auction alerts :)

oh, unaware of all that.....old dog discovers something new. In that case I just pass on general principles and hope for pard to have seven points, or to get more on defense against vul guys than we can make.

Is there nothing the "forcing club" guys can do to punish?

Definitely never pass at IMPs. Partner doesn't need much to reopen, e.g. Qxxx x Kxxx xxxx would be a very normal double and less is possible. Only at matchpoints in a strong field would I regard pass as a choice worth considering, but I probably still wouldn't do it.

yeh, well I am definitely not a Strong Club person, so I lost it on the first round. Now I am supposed to pray partner is 4-1-x-x, and bid 2S. What fun.

wtp? Partner is bidding his hand and we are bidding ours, pass does not describe our hand so we don't pass. I certainly don't think this is a time to be complaining about playing a strong club though, if you were playing standard you'd already be at 3.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I meant was that, not being a big club person, I lost it on the first round of bidding because pard holding QXXX X KXXX XXXX would have probably responded 1S --and we would, in fact be getting too high. It was not a complaint about a forcing club system. However, if some third party were playing standard and up-the-line, they might do better than my partnership on this hand, too.

And I don't think responder in the big club situation necessarily has to have the perfect 4-1 in the majors to make this reopening double, so am not sure removing is that clear cut.
