Pass or double

Fortunately he led a ♦, declarer had ♣KJ109xx and ♦Axx, so while declarer finessed the club and then took the A, she couldn't get back to hand to draw the Q and it was promoted back by the 13th ♦. We got the timing slightly wrong in that partner should have cashed his winners before putting me in to lead the 13th ♦, and declarer could have got out for -200 by discarding a loser on it, but she ruffed and we got +500. The contract was always -1 on any of the sensible leads, -2 unless declarer does things absolutely right (and there is a not too likely lead that forces -2). At the other table it was 3♣-1 undoubled.

Just let it go.

He was 4333, game was unlikely for us (I'd have opened almost all the hands where it would make), if it was making we were probably taking 500, and he had enough to fancy 3C wasn't making. I think his hand was something like AQ9x, Axx, xxx, Qxx.

For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

That is a very poor pass by partner. A S bid is 100% obvious, as is your pass.

Well my partner would have much preferred her to have AKJ10xx(x).

If partner didn't pass on that I'd be getting a new partner. A typical hand like Kxxx, Kxxx, KJxx, x will collect 500 frequently if declarer is 7222, and 95%+ of the time 200. You will struggle to make 3S.

Been with my present partner for a good 15 years so far. So long as both members of the partnership would do the same thing on the same hand, doesn't particularly matter if other people think it's crazy.
