Really dumb question Can't help it, I get confused

Now that I see all of this stuff about Chrysler going bankrupt I recall that not so long ago Chrysler became Daimler-Chrysler and was always called Daimler-Chrysler in the press. Now it is Chrysler again. What happened to the Daimler part?

This luckless marriage was divorced in 2007. Chrysler has been sold to the Cerberus Group.

Daimler sold Chrysler in 2007, after finally realizing it shouldn't have bought it in the first place. They still have some stake in Chrysler, though, and now they are too late to sell it.

Daimler builds Mercedes cars as well as the luxury Maybach and the tiny Smart. They are based in Stuttgart.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!
