Does this forum have a stated policy about preserving older threads?

I'm lazy. I prefer to save links to interesting threads for re-reading and possible future discussion. But maybe that's not such a good idea if the links can stop working at anytime.

Try this.. click on any forum... go to the bottom of the page, where it says,

"Showing 25 of xx threads" and has some pull down boxes, one says something like, last post date.... the next says descending order, and the last one says "the last 30 days"...

Change the last 30 days to "the beginning" and then click go.

Undoubtedly you will find post from 2003, when the forum began.

To do full searches in the search button, you need to change the search period to "from the beginning" also.

In other words, almost all post remain here all the time. Once in a while someone does some pruning, but the serious post seem to remain... I think less than 200 total post have been removed... and most of those were censor related removals.

Thanks Ben. What I'm trying to understand is how long old threads are retained before they are archived or removed. Perhaps the policy is to retain them as long as the forum is active, except the types of threads you mentioned.

I was browsing some old threads from 2003 in the SAYC 2/1 forum a few days ago. Saw your discussion of 1M 2C (per Washington Standard) and your reference to "golady".

They are kept indefinitely is the current policy, I think.

We've never set out to delete forum content (except in the case of those that needed moderation =P ), but we've lost content when moving forum. That's accidental.
