Scoring: IMP

They bid 1 - 4 for 10 tricks. Dummy had a stiff heart.

Personally I think this is easier to post as a bidding problem on the West hand. I don't think East has a call at either turn. I suspect I'd take the chance of bidding 5, but it's harder to be unbiased knowing both hands.

Certainly east is normal. Probably west is normal. The hand biases me a little but I still think he should pass.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

You've been shut off from biding, it's normal. West doesn't have enough offensive tricks to enter the bidding at trick 5.

Hi,

#East: The alternative to Pass is 3C, which would be highly
agressive, given the vulnerability (equal), you may well
say hyper agressive.
So Pass is normal and the sane action.

#West: I am pretty sure, I would have passed without much
considerations.
Again: Bidding 5H with this hand will given than on avg. at
least 300, and 500 / 800 are in the picture, so the gain
vs. 420 wont be huge, but you may loose much.
Besides you have 2-3 tricks against the contract, partmer
may well have 1-2 or, giving you a fair chance of beating the
contract.
So pass is also normal and the sane action.

With kind regards
Marlowe

You'd get some minority votes for double with West. I've seen Justin suggest x on similar hands. He is right a scary amount of the time.

Of course this is a normal result. Preempts work (again).

If opponents are vulnerable I as West will try 5, hoping for a trick from partner. Otherwise I shut up.
