Yes I would bid 5S now. I am not sure about 2S but I think I would have bid the same.

I was talking to Han recently about how hands like this should jump to 3S immediately in competitive auctions even though they would bid 2S in uncontested auctions. In the thread that spawned me to talk about that with Han, gnasher said roughly the same thing.

Would your opinion change if the 2♠ bid guaranteed 4 cards (support double situation)?
Or are you changing the meaning of the 3♠ bid in competition to show distributional support, as you can cue bid with a true "power" 3♠ bid?
