Like Frances, I would have assumed up-the-line bidding with "two places to play" here. On reflection, this is however clearly inferior to the agreement of directly bidding 4♥ with hearts and clubs. It is also pretty intuitive since it means we show our major immediately if we have it (4♦ implies one, but 4♣ wouldn't so we bid 4♥ instead with hearts and clubs). It means we never miss a 4-4 heart fit, takeout doubler will still know what to do over a 4♥ bid, and he can also suggest to play in hearts when he has 5 of them.
The easiest way to count losers is to line up the people who talk about loser count, and count them. -Kieran Dyke
