I expect to play in 4H because I will bid it.

Interesting to see conflicting hands (this isn't one) versus the accepted wisdom of playing in the relatively weak hand's seven card suit.

I would bid 4♥ right away with the first one. With the second one I would bid 1♥, then 4♥.

Isn't the second hand too good for 1♥ then 4♥? 3 aces one time pard?

For Art: As for the method he plays that doesn't let him bid 1♥ then 4♥ on this auction unless he has four spades, I'm sure he makes use of this nifty "4th suit forcing" convention to get around the dilemma of what to do when he doesn't have spades.

Seems like a waste of a sequence.

If you have spades, you can bid them.

The distinction between 4♥ directly, 1♥ then 4♥ and 1♥ then 4th suit forcing then 4♥ should be based on the playing strength of responder's hand, not whether there is a fit for responder's second suit.

By the way, the sarcasm was not lost on me. ;)
