1. Too much playing strength for 3S and no other bid seems right either. I'd bid 4S even though I've heard we should always play in hearts with this shape.

2. I think that this is a pass. Hopefully I get another chance to bid.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

so obvious that both must have no success.

I guess the winning bids had been 2 and X but I had never found them at the table.

I made the 'wtp' bids (4s and pass) - 4h made (4s didnt) and double worked out better on the 2nd hand... a few pairs including the winners found 4h, quite a few scrambled to 3h on the 2nd one.
