Some time back, a poster mentioned records of IMP results for Fantunes (specifically, their opening 2 bids), but I don't recall the poster or their source. I tried searching the forums with various keyword combinations without any success.

Maybe I mis-remembered the reference, or maybe I was dumb about my choice of keywords. Can anybody help?

More generally, I would like to know what sort of databases on system comparisons are accessible on the Web. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Very hard to measure this kind of thing.

F-N are substantially positive from their two-bids, but looking through the hands there seem to be a large number where either:

(1) Opponents did something obviously ridiculous, playing in a 3-3 fit or the like.

(2) The same contract was played at both tables, but F-N won a bunch on play or defense. Obviously the auction might have something to do with this but it could just be that F-N are better than most pairs (even in high-level events) at play and defense.

Many of these hands are from the EC where the Italians were averaging an incredible number of IMP/board with or without crazy Fantunes openings.

Sometimes they pass in 1st seat AND don't have a weak two that gets opened at the other table.

Thanks, gwnn. That is undoubtedly the reference I saw mentioned before. As cherdano says, it would also be interesting to know the IMPs exchanged when Fantunes passed on hands that were opened at the two level at other tables. And awm makes a good point about the difficulty of separating the contribution of the bids from the quality of the bidders.

I think someone also mentioned a record of the Cayne matches on BBO in which Fantunes participated. Possibly that record is still available.

Sure, should be available on BRIDGEBROWSER, as are all other hands played on BBO.

If you run some bridgebrowser test and you get interesting results then I would appreciate if you post your findings here. I will give you a hard time and so will others, but it is a great program and you can certainly do many interesting things with it.
