I play Namyats overcalls so 4 could be used with 5.5 mod. losers. Now North knows that the slam may be on opposite their 7 mod. losers.

In practice this may be wishful thinking as I play 4M as more pre-emptive and for 4m I usually look for a higher hcp.

Hi,

North should make a move over 4S, the only reason not bid 5H is,
that North seems to know, that he plays with someone, who has no
PASS card in the box, 5H can be easily -3, at least if you only
have the South hand, North has a monster.

You can use 4NT as way to show a weaker / stronger raise to 5H.
If this scientific support is enough, is a different discussion,
room is tight.

Obviously, you could argue, that North should raise / bid 6H, after the
show that South produced, but I would not be there, I would have acted
earlier as North.

With kind regards

With a living person seating N, it is easier to get to 6H.

I do not say that it will be reached but at least we get a chance.

More seriously, the 3 card-fit, the void and the side ace facing a red overcall make 5H an easy bid over responder 4S bid and almost an underbid facing a fitting hand opposite with long S and short minors.

When partner bids themselves voluntarily to the 5 level it is even more tempting. To make, or as a good save when partner has 9 hearts, single S and C, small doubleton D.

Overall we have more to gain than to lose going to 6.

The tricky question is what if they bid 6S (probably making with the hand I gave, that happily goes to the 5 level although there could have been merits to bid 5 on the 1st occasion).

This kind of problem is better presented with Just the North hand. Giving us all 4 hands creates bias.
