This happened to me playing with Ben but GIB i'm sure would be just as unhelpful
bidding went
1-(pass)-pass-(1NT) - all pass

I had KQT2 of clubs so I led K

2 small clubs in dummy,
Ben had J954 and played the 4
Declarer played the 3

What is Ben's 4, discouraging, showing count, something upside down, random card or the closest card to it's thumb?

Clearly, playing some sort of natural system of carding Ben should play the 9 to encourage and I continue the suit.

Ideally, you would program upside down attitude

but any method would tremendously increase results over current non-method
Sarcasm is a state of mind

Ben's 4 shows the 4, nothing more, nothing less.
