Hi, first post here; former computer programmer (modelling sports). The robots seem to be worse than ever, especially in (a) judging competitive auctions and (b) on lead.
I know they generally lead passively but they simply have to recognise when that isn't appropriate. Just now the robot (a) didn't lead a club when I had doubled Stayman, choosing instead a doubleton spade; and on the board above it must recognise that my (thin) double requires us to take top tricks asap.
I appreciate that these threads are monitored; I would be interested in trying to help improve the robots; if that is of any interest to those at BBO please drop me a line.
Thanks, Aaron

the lead was not the major issue, at all.....
The competitive bidding was not the major issue, at all....
It was the constructive bidding in a competitive auction...
It may help to realize robot bridge is not real bridge, it is something else.....

Oh I realise I overbid my hand per the robot's descriptions (it was the last board in a tourney). But the lead is still really bad, imo.
And, yes, robot bridge is not real bridge. Yet. But why shouldn't we aspire for it to be a lot closer? It seems there are some relatively simple fixes that could be made; perhaps some of it requires a total reimagining and rewiring of GIB. Maybe Ben is supposed to be the solution to all of it but I'm not that encouraged from what I've seen so far.

My guess is the technology is here today.
Just someone with a lot of money and time to build the bot. Right now there does not seem to be a financial reason to do that

I'd be happy if the bots returned my lead, or lead my suit, once in a while.
