Hello,

I play with a regular partner at Cheltenham (UK) Bridge Club and we are of middle strength (~50 EBU).

My partner is scheduled for heart surgery and we are looking for a suitable BBO tournament before and after surgery. Ideally, it will be in the afternoon and he will be too tired to play in the evening.

I'm used to playing in tournaments with my regular robot Bobbi (joke) against two other robots (and humans during covid) but he hasn't played online before so perhaps we should start with tournaments in which we play together against robots and then graduate to tournaments with real humans.

Can anyone suggest suitable tournaments please (or tell me a better place to ask)?

There aren't any BBO tournaments where a pair of humans play against robots. We currently only have individual tournaments where a single human plays with robots in the other 3 seats (the ones you play in with Bobbi), and tournaments with human+robot partnerships.

If you want to practice together before playing in real tournaments you can do it at casual bridge tables. You'll need to rent robots, then you can put them in the East and West seats while you two sit North-South (or vice versa).

If you play Acol then the Acol Club is a friendly place - https://www.acolatbb...rneys/index.php

Their standard tournaments are 12 boards, which is probably good, but in the evenings. However if you look for 'Vesian's tourneys' then they have two on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades
