Opponents preempt, again

3♠, arguably the Nespresso convention. Partner knows we're under pressure, which shifts the ranges. Showing the support is too important.

Since I can't bid 2♠ unless the opponents are very friendly, I'll bid 3♠. As a corollary, with a limit raise hand I'll just bid game. With a normal game force raise, I'll cue bid 4♥, etc etc

3S. Which here means something between 2.5S and 3S. The 4-cd support and long H (LHO is not ove ruffing me) will have to do. Partner knows I might not hold full values when under pressure. I could have a bit more, though.

The "rule" is don't preempt over a preempt. I've added to that personally, by stipulating that if their actions are weak, ours are strong. Third, I tend toward aggression with shortness in the opposition suit. With length I tend toward conservatism. All that adds up to a pass. If partner is short, you will hear about it later.

Pass and wait for the real problem-do I bid game over partner’s reopening double.

Pass then game over a reopening double.
Make it 4=3=1=5 same values and I’d bid 3S. Very close and I could live with either 3S now or pass.
