I don't love the 2♠ bid to begin with since it's implying more HCP than actually held, but having heard partner then bid 4C, I can't imagine ever allowing the opponents to play in 4M here. Give me 1 more diamond and 1 less spade and now both contracts are making.

GiB's explanation of 4♣ is unadulterated (in mycroftese): if it really believes that load of poppycock, then the subsequent passes are reasonable.

Doesn't it play UoU after Michaels?

You should have said this was from the free Super Sunday tournament; that robot really shouldn't even be called GIB. 5♣ should be bid here if it is more likely to get a better score than 4♠, and at least the old version bids 5♣ almost always precisely for that reason; I'm sure the current version of GIB would too. The intentionally weakened free robot can only bid it based on counting points, which it doesn't have.

I didn't know the Super Sunday tournament used a different version of the bot. I'd have thought it would make more sense to use the stronger bot, for marketing reasons if nothing else.

Virtually anything free uses the basic bot, with only two exceptions I know of (free weekly instant, Dianna + Friends). Yes, the decision to intentionally make their robots look bad in all of the free tournaments is bizarre, but it's how it has always been..

Obviously even this version of GIB plays UoU. Look at the explanation of the 2♠ bid. Now if the question is whether this GIB plays UoU well, that's an entirely different question.
