Since the recent upgrade, I have experienced frequent dropouts, 3 or 4 times a session compared to none.
Has anybody else noticed this or do I need to look elsewhere

We added a new popup warning about a slow connection (this replaced the connection meter in the top-right corner in the desktop version). Have you been getting this popup in addition to the disconnections?

Since the last BBO "upgrade," I have been getting slow connectivity messages and am being logged in and out of games. I am unable to play with such distraction.

I complained immediately to the developers that it's too sensitive. It warns on a single delayed response, although there's a rate limit to ensure no more than one message every 2 minutes. I have an excellent Internet connection at home, but I still get the warning on my tablet once or twice an hour.

But if you're getting them so often that it's distracting and you're getting disconnected, there is a problem with your Internet connection.

Similar experience here. I have a fast 33Meg connection and it constantly slows response on BBO. Popup message keeps appearing and I have to wait 1 min + before my bids are registered on the table
Makes playing competition very difficult and lost at least 1 board

Since BBO expanded its offerings, it has become extremely slow and prone to failure. I think that many members are annoyed by this and are turning to other sites.

I have had a reply from BBO support as below

The message you're referring to is intended to alert users to a potentially slow connection that might affect the game they're playing. Our tech team is looking into why it's appearing so frequently and apparently without reason. Meanwhile, keep in mind that the message can be easily dismissed simply by clicking on it.

Still unhelpful as the problem is continuing and is obviously related to the last update by BBO
Hopefully they can sort it out quickly!

Nothing has changed regarding disconnections.

The only thing that changed is that we now notify you when we detect delays which aren't significant enough to cause a disconnection. This replaces the connection quality meter that used to be in the top right corner of the desktop version.

I ran into it (kibitzing the WBG) last week for the first time. It's helpful, I guess, but it's also annoying. I guess so is the repeated "[follow] just signed in" flag, and it's in the same spot, and I got used to ignoring that, I'll get used to ignoring this too (unless I do start getting dropouts; haven't had that before with the internet here or Back Home).

You can turn off the "just signed in" notifications in Account->Settings. "Notify me when a friend signs in".

I could. I haven't. Maybe I should when I play a serious game.

But we'll see if the "bad connection" flags get to be ignorable like those or not.
