I want to practice signalling against robots. Does anyone know if there is a suitable tool for this - are BBO non advanced robots good enough for this?

Practicing signalling against a computer

Do you mean against a computer (i.e. with a human partner), or with a computer?
If you're practicing signals with a human partner, it doesn't matter who your opponents are, so a basic bot will work.
If you're looking for a robot that can signal intelligently / understand your signals, good luck with that; so is everyone else.

Looking elsewhere is a good bet. The BBO robots neither signal regularly nor pay any attention to your signals.

Hi,
this is a pretty hard task.
The robot (human replacement) must understand your intention, taking various factors into account.
The factors are
- knowledge gained from the bidding system
- knowledge gained from looking at dummy
- knowledge gained from the direction of play, this also includes carding / signaling methods
I most likely forgot other source of knowledge, that get into understanding / interpreting a signal.
False carding, identifying situations, where certain false cards are matadory.
My partner likes to claim, that a Bridge Variant (Dummy Reversal) is a good training method,
which means the defenders get to see the cards, opening leader tables the dummy, his decides on the lead.
Play proceeds as usual. It trains signaling.
With kind regards
Marlowe
