I reported this a year or more ago, but it appears nothing has changed.

I have granted no permissions to BBO app on Android and App info says "No permissions allowed".
Nevertheless, the Permission usage monitor of Android just advised me "BridgeBase has been detected using Camera".

Please fix. BBO and/or Google as necessary.

When does this happen? I can't think of why it would happen unless you go to a table/tournament using video chat.

No specific time, just once every few months I get a notification from Android Permission usage monitor that "BridgeBase has been detected using Camera".
In this case I had used the App for a few minutes earlier in the day, to look at History from a tournament (played on PC) the previous day.

It's at least a year since I ever tried using video chat and only from the PC, never with the App.
As mentioned, the App has video permission denied.
I use other video-capable Apps with permission denied and have never received this notification for them.

Reporting this again for the fourth year running :(

Permissions the same as previously documented.
In this case, I had used the app on Android only to subscribe to a tournament: subsequently on PC I played the tournament and later logged in again to check history.

Definitely on the todo list, right after a complete overhaul of GIB.

Is the warning coming from the phone's android system, or you are using a utilities app that flags stuff like "memory low, clean up" etc. ?

Email a screenshot of this to diana@bridgebase.com and indicate the app that flags this if its a 3rd party app doing it.

I cannot imagine any reason this would happen. The app also needs access to camera / gallery to set a profile picture for example. But it doesnt actually use the camera without you clicking "take a selfie".

It looks like it comes from a monitor of Android itself.
I sent you the screenshot, thanks.
I agree it seems strange, particularly as I deny camera permission to the app anyway.
Maybe the app unnecessarily requests permission to use the camera or something similar.

If it helps at all, I just experimented with setting a profile picture. The app correctly requests permission to access storage if you want to select an image from the device and permission to use camera and record video if you want to take a selfie. So the app settings I imposed (no access to storage or camera) are effective in constraining the app but can be overridden from within the app, at least with my consent.
I took a selfie (which worked) and then replaced it with a stock image and removed permissions again.
