As bridge is a game of BIDDING and DECLARER play it is disconcerting to find so many of thousands of players who have not set up their conventions in Account. The reason for this is because they don’t know where to do it and are not encouraged when they register.

The small heading of ‘other’ in the Account should be changed to ‘CONVENTIONS’.
And maybe a run through the database sending out notifications to all players who have no conventions.
Please, please, please!

Based on plenty of earlier threads on this topic, the response you're likely to get from BBO is that your profile isn't meant to be used for conventions.

That's all very well and good, but it's what a significant majority of players without dedicated partners use in the BBO because there isn't a better alternative (a proper discussion via chat is never viable given the number of players who come and go).

So it is surprising a better option hasn't been introduced, but given the number of issues with the software right now and the number of years this went unchanged before the software change, I wouldn't count on changes any time soon.
I have nothing worth contributing, bye

I for instance have several "favourite cards". I can load one at any point and you can look at it and object to it[1]. I would assume that if you're only comfortable with your style, that you would have such a card that you could post, or a one-liner saved in the chat manager that you could run up as a first offering (after all, once you do agree to it, every round you'll be posting it to the opponents, because you don't have a card, right?

Yes, "your profile, p" works well. but it's not necessary. And for those of us that rarely play pickup (I do enough of that in my "real job", which I don't get to do these days), what's in it for me? Especially because my "profile" would be totally unhelpful to anybody wondering if they could play my card (see footnote).

[1]But I wouldn't, because nobody wants to play my "favourite cards" except those partners (okay, maybe one). I'd have a "Calgary Flight A" card and a "Chapala not-Flight A" card and go from there, probably. You can see the examples at my online repo - small plug for the GRB Convention Card Editor (also something nobody else wants to use, but it's worth a shot).

That field is for whatever the user wants to put there. While it has become common to put preferred conventions there, it's not the only thing it's used for. That's why it has such a generic name.

It would be useful to players to show those pairs which have an established Convention Card and be able to click on it to show it when playing a board together.
If no CC, then a button to "Set CC" when you register for a pairs or team tourney.
