I'm not going to comment about GIB's bidding without seeing the hand, with this said and done
There are a lot of cases in which a seven card fit (especially a 4-3 fit) is going to be the correct place to declare a contract.
Learning when this holds true and how to play these hands is very much part of developing as a bridge player.
You can't just write off players or partners because the chose to place you in a Moysian.

Exactly.
Give GIB something like AQJxx KQx x xxxx and you would get the bidding sequence mentioned, and it would clearly be correct.
