Our 2C opening can be 5C and 4M, and have about 12-15 hcp. We put a narrow range on it to improve constructive bidding, but also to lessen the frequency since it is the worst part of the system.
I'm thinking that in third seat it might be possible to play it as wide-ranging; perhaps 7-14. This put some more strain on our 1C opening (similar to Polish), and means that we basically give up on game when we open 2C in third. 2C now becomes a preempt instead.
Do you think something like that could be worthwhile?

nullve: Could be up to 11 hcp if balanced or if clubs as primary suit. We now play weak twos (except clubs) and allow five card suits if having a four+ card minor and a decent hand. We may also open 2NT if weak with 5-5 majors.
Another possibility in third seat could be to use 3C as a constructive opening, and put club preempts into 2NT.

I think it could be worthwhile. You can still get to games when responder has a fit. Something like....
2D-Stayman with fit
2M-5M with fit
2N-good raise
3C-bad raise
You'd only show a 4 or 5-cd major when having a maximum pass and fit. With a minimum and fit, you'd just raise clubs or pass.
In this first draft, a weak opener would not cooperate with Stayman and would just return to clubs.
