Star partner, random team match on BBO. IMPs. No agreements but you would expect pd to understand whatever is considered expertish standard if there is such thing for this sequence:

Not enough information provided, what are your agreements?

Is 2 waiting? If so, what is the negative rebid. Is 2 absolutely forcing to game? Are 2Qs considered a semi-positive?

What is a 2 response?

No agreements :) That's the nice part about it.

A very common "expert" agreement is to play this 3 rebid as denying a 4 card major and for 3M rebids to show 4 of that major plus longer diamonds. This agreement simplifies these kinds of hands.

In my experience, 2 openings by BBO randoms vary wildly. There's nothing you can really do about that though. A reasonable meta-agreement with randoms is that a suit rebid after a forcing opening is also forcing. 3NT seems like the most logical choice.

It is standard to play that 3 is forcing. Having a star doesn't mean that much on BBO....they give them out pretty loosely....but you'll probably find out whether this one knows anything after you bid 3N, which is really the only possible call now.

BTW, playing 3M by opener as 4M and longer diamonds may be common but it isn't standard and a random BBO star shouldn't make that call undiscussed.

OK so this was unanimous. I thought I could "invent" a bid to pass the cat back to my partner so I bid 3. Pd raised to 6, holding Q AKTx AKJT9x Ax. I think he is quite young as he did not pass out when he saw the dummy. He merely commented "Oh, I forgot the cheap major relay convention, sorry pd" :)

wasn't he looking at dummy during the auction? As in: his hand?

Hi,

Pass is out, and so is bypassing 3NT.

A new suit should be 4+, or 5+, so you have either
3S oe 3NT, I go with 3NT.

With kind regards

Yes I meant when he saw my hand sry. Failed to become dummy, at least in the bridge sense of it.

With no agreements, I bid 3.

I've played 3 as a weakness showing in this situation. It's a perfectly reasonable convention, though of course there are downsides.
