Hi, I'm after some ideas on how these hands should be bid. These hands were bid using a weak NT but basically Standard bidding apart from that. Any ideas in that context would be appreciated.

1. I'm not sure we got the right contract but it was a decent one

If south is the dealer i would open 1NT (weak) some might pass

1NT 2♣
2♦ 3♦
4♦ ... ace ask ... 6♦ or 6NT

If north is the dealer

1♦ 3♦
...

cuebids and ace ask will lead to 6♦ or 6NT as above.

This auction will be pretty much the same if south is dealer and passes.

Perhaps opener will rebid clubs a second time with seven rather than showing diamond support but this may create other difficulties.

OP, I don't think you will get many other replies unless you tell who was the dealer. People appreciate being given the vulnerability and form of scoring as well.

HI, sorry about that. When I posted I originally thought the dealer was obvious (because only one side could open) and the vulnerability didn't matter too much. All are in pairs.

#1 - North is dealer
#2 - South is dealer
#3 - South is dealer

6N (may be gambling on 9♥ if partner doesn't have 10♥ or Q♠ or Q♣)

2N(15+ GF not always bal)-3♠
4♣-4♦(KC)
4♠(1/4)-5♠(we have all the keycards, I have K♠
7N(well you have at least ♣AKQxx, ♠AKxx, ♦A, so we have 13 if the clubs or diamonds run)

2N(15+ not always bal)-3♣
3♥-4♦
4♥(KC)-5♣(2 without Q)

On a good day the auctions would go:

1.

North dealer
1D - 2D (inverted) -3H - 4C - 4N - 5C (1 or 4) - 6D
*3H is a distributional reverse showing 4 Hearts and very little interest playing in NT.


2.

South dealer
1N - 2C - 2D - 3C - 3N - 5N - 7C
5N is a grand slam invite.

3.

South dealer
1D - 2C - 2H - 3C - 3S - 4C - 4H (cue bid) - 4S - 4N - 5C - 6C
Even though 6N is better here its pretty easy to miss. N may be concerned about not having enough entries.
