I don't know how difficult it is to program in changes to GIB's system, but here is a suggestion that I think is worthwhile implementing.

In an uncontested auction
1-1N-4/4/4 should show a shortage in the bid suit ("splinter") with a self supporting suit and values to commit to 4
Likewise
1-1N-3/4/4

At present, GIB describes these bids as natural and strong. But we already have the lower level in the same suit available for that.

Slam may still be a possibility, here, and having to rebid a blunderbuss 4M on these hands lacks delicacy.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq
