North leads the jack of spades. Bermuda Bowl R15, England v Netherlands today. The success or failure of the contract changed several times. Plan the play. If you know the hand, comment but do not give the opposing hands.

I would start with 2 spades noticing the count from south so I know if I can cash a third or not before playing a club to my king

South will show two spades if he is honest. The KC will hold, but you will lose three diamonds, two clubs and two trumps now.

RHO has passed the double at the 1-level. He can't really have 5 hearts (LHO would find a different lead) so RHO apparently holds KQxx.

I'll win Q, cross to A and lead 8.

(i) If RHO covers I win a play another big heart, hoping to make four trump tricks and one of my black kings later.
(ii) If RHO ducks and 8 wins, I play K next. If RHO is able to ruff this, it will be at the expense of his second trump trick. Again I continue with trumps and hope to score K later. If K holds, I ruff a spade and exit in diamonds.

You would have been successful, and, no doubt, quicker than Robson who went off. South had xx KQxx AK AJxxx and there is no defence.

My guess: QKA discarding a when South follows, ruff the 4th . Exit in . When defenders force you in a black suit, ruff and exit with to 8. Judging from the previous post, Robson found a similar line :(
