Some pairs tourneys allow you to pair up with a robot when registering, at a cost of $0.25 (on top of any other charges).
If you already have a robot rental valid for the day, do you still get charged the $0.25 if you select a robot for a partner in such tourneys? The button that you click on to select a robot suggests that you do, but I do not see why that should be.

Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

You do - the daily bot rental isn't related to the "Pro" bot.
On the one hand, it is tempting to make it so. What difference should it make WHERE you use your rented bot?
I'll discuss w/Rain & Fred.

Pardon me? At the prompt I get a choice to rent a "Pro" bot for a day for $1, or a basic bot for a week at $0.25. I rather assumed that the $1/day robot was the same robot that you rent at $0.25 per pairs tournament. Am I wrong?

Let's be clear, that this is unlikely to be a matter of interest to many players (perhaps myself excepted).
At a guess, I suspect that very few players voluntarily choose a robot partner in a human pairs event. You would know better than I. You made the facility available and I assume you have some way of tracking its popularity.
I merely suggest that *IF* an individual has spent $1 to rent a pro robot for a day, AND he chooses to play in a human pairs event which has an option to register with a robot partner, then to me it seems a bit steep that he should stump up another $0.25 when he already has acquired for the price of $1 the right to play with a pro bot for the whole of that day.
It's your decision (or Fred's). Nothing to stop him charging it if he wants to. Nothing to stop me feeling short-changed either, mind.
If I wanted to play with a robot in more than 4 human pairs tourneys in a day, then I might be minded to rent a pro bot for $1 if I were exempt from paying £0.25 on the table. You or Fred may not want that scenario. Entirely your call. However it would be a very rare situation, I think.
More likely I might want to play in a variety of tourneys AND in the MBC during the day, and pay $1 primarily for the right to play with a pro bot in the MBC. In that case, if I happen also at some time in that day decide to play in a human pairs tourney with a robot partner (host permitting) then I personally feel that I have already paid for that robot.
It may well be that everything is operating as intended. But I just have a nagging feeling that this issue has simply been overlooked.
