I think a lot of posters do not understand the difference between making a wjo and between opening 2S. The hand is a 2S opening nv, but is not a wjo.

We agree that it is not a wjo.

so the difference is what?
Just asken...since you raise the issue.

When they have exchanged more information (by opening the bidding) the chance of them ending in the wrong spot due to the preempt is less, and the chance of them choosing to defend when that is right is higher. I would definitely open 2♠ on this non-vul without a second thought. As a WJO I think it's close. For people whose style is more conservative it might be a questionable 2♠ opening and definitely not a WJO.

May depend on the nature of the club, over a 2 card club, they've not exchanged much info and it's time to go for your gun.

Nigel has explained it well, Mike. there are other points as well. You have much less chance of playing 2S X if the hand is opened 2S rather than if the opps have opened the bidding. Also opening 2S in first seat or third seat makes constructive bidding much harder for the opps. I would open this hand 2S at this vulnerability, by the way. It is not a WJO for me.

I don't really agree with the wjo argument, when RHO has opened 1♣ he often hasn't said much more than he has 12+, while when he has passed he said 11-, both seem to have mor or less the same amount of info, and there is also the fact that RHO passing puts more strenght on partner increasing the chances of putting the pressure on the wrong player.

2S for me. As advancer, I pass.
