I held the East cards last night, at this point partner punted 6H, which made.

I would bid 4♥ and be happy playing there.
It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

6♣ can handle a 4-2 break provided the hearts and diamonds break reasonably well. Partner should have jumped to 6♣ or bid something more scientific to give partner the choice of suits afterall if partner spades were KQJ10xx or more then spades slam plays better.

6♥ looks a good bet, seems just to need hearts 3-3, or 4-2 without one hand holding Q10xx so the chances are pretty good, on a spade lead, you can cope with stiff Q in the N hand as long as S has 3 clubs and you guess correctly whether his other spare card (he needs 2523 or 4+ clubs) is a spade or a diamond.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I guess if I had one bid looking at both hands it may as well be 6♥. In practise I think I would stop in game though, after:-
1♠ = 10-17, 5+ spades, unbal
... - 1NT = INV+ relay
2♣ = min, 0-3 hearts
... - 2♦, GF relay
2NT = 5+ diamonds
... - 3♣ = relay
4♣ = 6+ spades, heart void
... - 4♥

2♣ = min, 0-3 hearts

4♣ = 6+ spades, heart void
... - 4♥

I think the bidding up to 3♠ is perfect, and after that only you can do now is guess because nothing is really forcing except 4♣.
I disagree with cloa about jumping to 6♣. Even if this doesn't suggest 5-6 for you 7-5 is not equal lenght at all and you will play ridicoulous contracts.

I don't understand the 3S bid, isn't partner limited to at most a singleton spade? Is it supposed to promise a heart void to slow partner down? Would 3NT promise a singleton heart?
