Is partner the captain or are you worth another call?

You chose to make a rather unusual 3♣ opening call. Partner bid 5♣, presumably to make, but you don't really know. In any case, you must pass.
For all you know, partner might have:
AKQx
JTx
AKQx
xx
And even 5♣ is in jeopardy.

I would pass but I have no experience in pulling the wrong card from the bidding box and underbidding by 2 tricks and then figuring out what to do later, so my opinion is probably worthless.

I don't know what to do right now tbh. Since i opened 3♣, i may as well just pass and try to get a plus score if i can now.

Opposite ArtK's AKQx JTx AKQx xx I'd like to be in 6♣ rather than 5♣ - slam is making on a non-heart lead, and if they do lead a heart we'll usually go down in game, so the risk-reward ratio is low.

For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

But given the 3 ♣ bid, there's no way to know if partner is raising to make or furthering the preempt.

True....but we have an opportunity to piss him off.

Dont worry about pissing him off, your wishes will already be granted when he sees the hand you opened 3♣

I suspect that this is a ruling.

This was the case.
Your partner took three minutes to bid five clubs and this hand bid six, making trivially when partner had a singleton heart and lots of values. Director ruled it back, but I thought he must have had a fun time trying to find some peers of South.
South was furious at the ruling (and North was not happy either) and insisted on an appeal, but they went home during the break and so the appeal never happened.

Player (slightly humbled): "Sure, why not."
Director: "Here is the auction: (...)"
Player: "THAT'S WHAT YOU CONSIDER TO BE MY PEERS?" (Thinking.) "Now, that explains your ruling last week..."

Both of you have legitimate points about bidding on. The point that I was trying to make was that partner could have a great hand and you still might not make slam (or even game). He might even have his full hesitation but if the hands don't fit well there will be no slam.
