That was actually an interesting question - for "dancing angels" versions of "interesting" - that I'm not sure ever got a decisive answer when it was asked before. Are the Laws AI? If so, is Law 77 AI? If so, can you ask to see them? If it is, but only if you can remember them, how do we treat "This happened, but I don't know if it's legal. Please?"

Practically speaking, I'd draw the line at the prebuilt scores - I'd probably draw the line at "if you don't know the 8 important scores, that's not my problem."

My immediate reaction is that although the Laws are AI a player may not look up any law himself. If he needs it he must summon the Director and have him tell the (relevant) law(s).

(The law book is one among several "aids to memory".)

And what about the regulations? It came up in a thread not long ago that the definition of a Logical Alternative is, for the EBU, hidden in the White Book (which is a)fairly obscure; few people know about it and b) no longer comes in a print version, so if you are going to refer to it you need to have thought in advance about downloading its 300ish pages. If you are in receipt of UI, it seems that you should be allowed to ask what exactly is an LA. But are you?
