I have seen a # of precision partnerships playing 1c-1d-1M as 4+ cards F1 with 2c/d as next bid showing 5/6 hcp and denying(2c)/showing (2d) support for opener's M. Are opener's bids now best played as natural? What non-game bids are forcing now?

I think Meckwell plays

1C-1D, 1M-2C, 2D as a relay asking for (amongst other things) whether responder has a 2-fit for the major.

1C-1D, 1H-1S is 0-7 with 4+ spades and less than 4 hearts except...

1C-1D, 1H-2D, 2H-2S shows 3 hearts and 4 spades and about 6-7 hcps

This approach is described in ONE CLUB COMPLETE by Kathy Wei & Judy Radin. It is out of print, but Baron-Barclay had a few copies left a few years ago.

I have been playing such an approach for over 10 years. Here is our (Keylime & me) treatment for pairs:

1 - 1 - 1 (4+ & 1 R. F.):

1 = 0-7 hcp & 4+
1 NT = 0-4 hcp (without an Ace & 0-3)
2 = 5-7 hcp & 0-2
2 = 5-7 hcp & 3
2 = 3-5 hcp & 4+

Now, continuations by Opener are natural and canape-like (i.e. a minor may be longer than the major). Jump in a minor by opener is a ONE ROUND FORCE and a rebid of the major at the 3-level by opener is a ONE ROUND FORCE.

Similar follow-ons after 1 - 1 - 1:

1NT = 0-4 hcp and 0-2
2 = 5-7 hcp & 3

C3: Copious Canape Club is still my favorite system. (Ultra upgraded, PM for notes)

2♥ = 3-5 hcp & 4+♥

I think it should be 0-4 with 4. 1NT could be passed and it wouldn't be good.

By the way, what about continuations after:

1- 1[diaomnds]
1 - 2
2 - ?

Is it forcing ? (can responder pass with something like say 2-3-6-2 ?) What are the continuations ?

Perhaps, but with 4-4 in the majors and unbalanced Opener would rebid 1, not 1. Sometimes 1NT (by responder) is passed.

We play this as 4 and 5+ and invitational only, responder could pass with a poor 5 hcp and no fit as opener would have jumped with 19+ after the semi-positive 2.

We play

1c 1d 1h 2c (~5-7, 0-2h, 0-3 s)
2d ART waiting bid, 16-bad18 (without 6h) or GF 6 bad hearts or GF 1444
2h 2spt, nf
2s art GF
2n, 3m nat nf
2h NF nat
2s nat GF, could be 3-suiter
2n GF, 5+h, 4+m
3m 4h, 5+m, GF
3h GF, sets h

1c 1d 1s 2c
2d ART waiting, 16-bad18 (without 4h or 6s) or 4144 GF or GF 6 bad spades
2h nat, F1
2s nat, nf
2n GF, 5+s, 4+m
3c GF, 4s, 5+m

We have switched 1s-2d and 1s-2h so that 2d shows 5+ hearts, 5-7 and so the bid that shows 5-7 w/ 3spt is 1-under 2M in both cases

1c 1d 1M 2M-1 (~5-7, 3spt)
2M only NF bid
2M+1 5+M, any short suit game or slam try
2n/2h GF, 4x1 (3c asks shortness)
3m 4M 5+m, GF
3h/2s 4144 GF
3M inv

We have GF continuations for responder since he could have a GF with 0-1 controls to respond 1d.
