I blame the second double.
4S would have worked and it was planned from the start to double and then show spades.
Although South is forced one level higher then he expected he should have sticked with his plan.

We had basically the same auction at MP (I was south), didn't even consider charging myself for the 2nd double, I mean...wtf. My dad also had the same auction (he was EW). Dan Wolkowitz had the auction 2H X 4H (lol) p p and asked me if he should bid 4S or double and I said I think not doubling is absurd.
I just mean, I think this is standard. Sometimes ***** happens.
