Partner could have bid 3 on 1 showing + regardless of strength (at least equivalent of an opening hand)

2 : shows fit, invite or better

dbl : feature (A,K or Q)

rdbl : alerted as the Ace

5: 1 Ace out of 5

Pass, because my holdings in partner's suits don't suggest bidding, and defensive values don't suggest doubling.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

We have more spades than expected but that's all, with some luck the ace missing is A

DBL. I try the lightner (they bid a voluntary slam so it is lightner). Can't make dull bids every time.
Partner will be confused when I follow to the diamond, but hopefully he continues the suit whatever red ace he has.

Btw I think that double of 2 is better played as a spade raise.

Can I trust partner to have his bids? If so, I expect some weakish wierd 66 or 75 and would save in 6.

If I can't, pass is 110% obvious.

IMO _P = 10, _X = 5, 6 = 4.

I'm sure I would have passed and awaited partners DA lead, it is very likely he has it since the opps did not try for a grand (so they're off 1 keycard) and we know they have the SA. MFAs double is pretty sexy though.

I don't think partner needs any help when he has that hand.
