Surely a heart is way better than anything else at any form of scoring.

Responder won't have hearts and opener only might have hearts.

Diamonds is way to risky at MPs and at IMPs even if right will usually not defeat the contract out of hand given we only have four of them.

My partner didn't double 2, though if he had I'd probably be playing the hand (hahaha). I have more faith in my diamonds, but I'm a lousy opening leader so don't read my answer.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

IMO = 10, = 6, = 3, = 2. At any form of scoring, a heart seems best.

Is this a UI problem? I can't see any other possible reason for posting this.

No, my partner led a diamond, and I was seeing if there was any support for it. I didn't care for it, but you surely can come up with some rationale. Was hoping a canape leader or a matchpoint maven would step up and offer something.

I could have doubled with KJ8x of hearts (dummy held Ax).

A matchpoint maven might refuse to lead away from AJxx even if that was the best chance of setting the contract, not the other way round. (For instance make the your hand Txxx Tx AJxx T9x and you'd get votes for the club lead.)

Edited to add: see Hanoi's lead thread today for another example of avoiding an otherwise appealing AJxx.

I guess one could argue pard didn't dbl 3, so a diamond is better. But yeah I'd still lead a heart because there are a couple of holdings, like Kxx over Ax and stuff, which make a heart lead good.

I think both choices (the H7 and the H3) are reasonable, I'd choose the 3.
