4?

Playing standard cues. (Ace,King,Singleton,Void)
In an auction where the first cue is in partners first bid suit, what agreement do you have, what exactly are you showing?

I believe the expert standard for a cue in partner's main suit is either A/K/Q.

I would expect the A or the K.....I don't play on the circuit so I may be out of touch, but I think cuebidding the Queen would not be viewed as 'standard'...that's not the same as saying it would be 'wrong' or 'bad' and, as I say, I may be incorrect anyway. I do think that there is a strong argument that it ought not to be shortness if made as the first cue.

Normally Ace or King.

Exception: Might be singleton (or Void) if the cuebidder have either:

- Certain knowledge of ten thrumph's in the combined hands (Quite unlikely here.)
- A hand where you feel confident partners suit need not be established.

An example hand of the second type:

Kx
x
KQJ10x
AJxxx

I wont preclude other exceptions, but they dont spring to mind.

I would expect:
- A/K/Q in
- Isn't 4 denying a control?
- I think I would RKC with you example hand

In general Ace or king, but as Ole said there are exceptions that allow a singleton, some form of extras normally.

for example on this hand dealer could have A x QJxxxx AKQxx or even a bit less also.

Ace or king. I would need a discussion (or to be looking at the AK) before assuming a queen was possible.

Yes, bad example hand, written in a hurry. I still consider the points valid however.
